VOLUNTEER SOCIAL
About 30 or so volunteers and several officials of the Town of Blackstone responded to the invitation and took the time to Hop on down to Joe & Alice Allman's lilly pad for a casual evening of fun and fellowship on May 22nd. In case you missed out on the festivities, and are curious as to what went on, I have a photo gallery of the occasion linked to the picture that you see to the left. Just click on the picture and it will take you to a photo gallery. Despite some inclimate weather most attendees were troopers and stayed around as we moved the party from the lawn to inside.
If you missed this get together, we hope that you will be able to make the next one.

MAY CLEANUP
DBi continues to partner with the Rotary club in its annual Pick up Your Pride Day when volunteers will assemble at Seay Park for registration and a short kick off ceremony will take place. Soon thereafter we will initiate our cleanup effort. Everyone will be assigned an area to collect litter. We need as many volunteers as possible so spread the word near and far. Stay tuned for more information.
Holiday Events
Annual Downtown Holiday Open House
Date: Friday, November 26th
Location: Downtown Blackstone
Time: 8:00-10:00 p.m.On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Blackstone, Virginia, will held its 3rd Annual Downtown Holiday Open House following the community’s traditional Grand Illumination in the town park. Attractions included Horse Drawn Carriage rides, Trolley rides, musical entertainment, the famous Bevell’s Hardware Holiday Train Display, and both of the town’s museums, Scwhartz Tavern, c.1790, and the Robert Thomas Carriage Museum welcomed visitors.
The idea behind the Holiday Open House is to recreate, as closely as possible, an atmosphere of the Christmases of yesteryear when life was slower and Christmas shopping was a memorable event rather than a race to find a parking spot and “while they last” bargains.
