Business and Property Owners Meetings
THE APRIL 15th MEETING was held at the Fire station and was attended by many, even the cougar.
The Results of the Business Owners' Survey might surprise you
Current Business Climate:
•60% (18 of 30) agreed parking is accessible and available
•100% of respondents said downtown is safe during the day
•77% (20 of 26) said downtown is safe at night
•80% (24 of 30) disagree shoplifting and vandalism is a problem for their business
•55% agreed & 45% disagreed that the town is clean & well maintained
•90% (26 of 29) agreed the town’s services are professional and efficient
•39% (11 of 28) plan to expand their business within the next year
•100% disagreed that they plan to relocate or close their business
•90% (26 of 29) would recommend downtown to others
The Chairperson of each of the four committees spoke to those in attendance:
Beth Winn represented the Economic Restructuring Committee and shared the results of the Business owners survey. Louis Malon shared useful information from the Design Committee .
Sara Ryan Gilmore represented the Promotions Committee and talked about many future events that are planned for the Fall and Joe Allman explained the role of the Organization Committee.
Francis Gilmore welcomed input from the group on ideas and concepts for the Town Square. Nora Joyner and her husband were very tuned in to the informatiion being presented.
Councilmen Dunc Quicke and Ben Green attended and took notes on some of the questions and concerns that surfaced from the discussions. We hope the meeting was beneficial to all who came.
