105 W. Broad St.-owners Joe and Alice Allman

plans for 105 WBroad (pdf 716KB)

The DBi office was nicely renovated and well appointed but the New York Life office took it to a whole 'nother level. Joe and Alice really outdid themselves and it turned out to be a great example of how meager beginnings can be transformed with a lot of vision, time, energy, sweat equity and cash!

Not only is the restoration happening outside but inside as well. Ceiling gets a copper tone. All interior painting and drywall was done by Eugene and Cathleen Williams of "Finishing Touch".

The ceiling looks good and new light fixtures and crown molding have recently been added.

Joe Allman's office is taking shape inside. Notice the walls have been painted. This is a nice rehab!

Joe examines the craftsmanship. It would appear that he approves! Crown molding now added.

Contrasting tones, and woodgrain cabinetry gives this space an upscale business-like feel!

The atttention to detail is obvious in every direction and there is much more to come!

Joe Allman sets out to to lay some tile. He lines it up and snaps a grid line just like the pros.

Next, he trowels the cement and the work goes very fast. He has all the necessary equipment.

He cuts tiles to fit in certain areas of the floor. After 4 hours of hardwork, he has it almost complete.

It is amazing what Joe can do just from googling a "how to" video on the web. Mission accomplished!

This picture shows the faux leather panel.  Notice here that sliding doors have been installed.

Joe is installing molding above his new doors. This addition provides privacy and adds a nice touch.

"Catfish", the expert installer, arrives and prepares Joe's floor. Later the carpet is delivered by Bill Menting, another local business owner, proprietor of "Dominion Carpet".

The carpet has now been installed and Joe is labeling the fuse box and adding finishing touches.

The decore is shaping up at Fisher-Allman. Joe and Alice Allman fabricate window boxes.

The window boxes will provide storage.  James Hargrave, owner of "grandesign" sign company, applies the window vinyl. Mr. Hargrave is another local business owner! Revitalization keeps local contractors hopping and in an economic downturn, that is a good thing!

New York Life Sign is installed

Joe Allman tackles the task of installing the New York Life sign. This sign, as well as the DBi sign was crafted by James Hargrave of "grandesign".

The sign looks spiffy and enhances the streetscape regardless of which perspective you view it from.

West Broad Street is shaping up! Adopt-a-block captain Joe Allman has inspired others by leading the way in putting out flower pots and adorning his building pilasters with ferns in hanging baskets.
