105-107 W. Broad - Joe & Alice Allman, owners

plans for 107 WBroad (pdf 673KB)

The brickwork was brush cleaned by Eugene Williams of "Finishing Touch" and the glass storefront had to be cut out and removed by Blackstone Glass, both local companies that did quality work!

After cutting away a section of the frame, the storefront comes down with very little resistance.

The old storefront is out and now preparations can be made to install the new one!

DBi Office: Time to tear out the storefront. First, the a/c unit must be removed.

Each panel of the transom window must be removed. Workers make quick work of the job!

Now that the transom is gone, next comes the glass out of the storefront. Piece of cake!

Blackstone Glass can flat dismantle a storefront in no time flat! Experience helps.

With the storefront cut out, the next step is to erect the steel beam at the top of the opening.

A steel frame is set in place in both storefronts. Joe Allman adds cement mud in the cracks.

The steel beam at the top of the opening in the facade is covered by a sheet of new vinyl.

The twin storefronts were boarded up overnight then the next morning work resumes.

The new storefront begins to take shape. The entry door frame required precision assembly.

Now you can see how the finished product will look. Note the outline of the transom windows.

Next, the front door will be installed then we wait until the new thermal glass is delivered.

Finally, the front door to the DBi office gets installed and the result of this is that two happy campers Joe and Keith are all smiles at day's end. The storefront will remain boarded up for about 4 days.

                                                             GLASS INSTALLATION

The thermal panes arrive! Installation of the first panel begins immediately!

Keith takes time out to call in an April fool's day prank on Danny who about had a heart attack

when Keith said the glass was ordered the wrong width and wouldn't fit! Keith gets busy.

Danny, owner of Blackstone Glass & Mirror gets in on the action. The big pane is installed.

One last large panel goes into place and after several adjustments...voila, a new storefront for DBi!

They immediately start in on Joe Allman's office and get it framed up. His glass comes in next week.

Look closely. Vinyl lettering has been added to the DBi office windows. We are almost complete!
